Reframing Anger Summit Presentation

When Anger Turns Inward: The Hidden Cost of Imposter Syndrome

October 1, 2026 - November 6, 2026

About the Presentation

Many high achievers who struggle with imposter syndrome don't recognize that anger is often part of what they're feeling. It shows up as anxiety, exhaustion, or self-doubt instead of anger itself, because somewhere along the way, they learned that anger wasn't safe to express. In this talk, Dorlee Michaeli, a licensed psychotherapist specializing in imposter syndrome and high-functioning anxiety, explores what happens when we redirect anger inward instead of listening to what it's telling us. You'll learn three simple, non-confrontational practices to help you notice anger before it becomes self-criticism, and start trusting yourself again.

Dorlee’s work is trauma informed and nervous system focused, helping clients understand how early survival patterns continue to shape emotional responses such as self criticism, overwork, and emotional suppression. Her approach integrates EMDR, psychodynamic therapy, and compassion based frameworks to support lasting change rather than surface level coping. She is licensed in New York, New Jersey, and Illinois and regularly speaks on the emotional patterns that keep capable people stuck despite insight, success, or motivation.
