Reframing Anger Summit Presentation
"How our physical health determines if & when we respond with anger"
October 1, 2026 - October 30, 2026
About the Presentation
Most of us treat anger as a personality problem or a mindset problem. This talk starts somewhere else: in the body. When we are tired, hungry, in pain, inflamed, or run down, the nervous system lowers the threshold for threat. The same comment that we could shrug off after a good night’s sleep can feel like an attack after three hours of rest, a skipped meal, or a week of chronic pain. Physical health does not invent our values or our stories — but it strongly shapes whether we respond with irritation, shutdown, or rage. We will look at how sleep, blood sugar, pain, illness, hormones, and recovery change emotional reactivity; why “I should just be calmer” often fails when the body is depleted; and what it means to treat anger as a signal from the whole system, not only from the mind. The aim is practical: notice the bodily conditions that make anger more likely, and build enough physical stability that we have a real choice in how we respond.
